While ancient Ayurvedic practices prescribed daily oleation of the body as an everyday ritual, today’s stressful lifestyle hardly leaves you with time to practice this amazing healing practice. The result of this neglect is dry and chapped skin, which hardly makes the body glow healthily and naturally. In this article, we will tell you about the 10 body oils, which would help you, banish skin dryness once and for all:
  1. Sesame Oil: Revered as the “King of Oils” in ancient Ayurvedic texts, Sesame oil is helpful in not only combating skin dryness but also as a face wash and sunscreen. Massage a small amount of warmed oil daily on the body, leave for 15-30 minutes and clean it off with a homemade ubtan of powdered gram and turmeric.
  2. Olive Oil: A rich source of Vitamins E & K (natural antioxidant), Olive oil hydrates the skin by sealing in the moisture in its deepest layers. To use, have a warm water bath to open body pores and after toweling the body, gently massage a small amount of Olive oil over it. Leave on for 15 minutes and then wipe out excess oil using a clean old cloth. For best results, use it daily.
  3. Coconut Oil: A deeply absorptive oil, Coconut oil is a powerful antibacterial agent. Can be used thrice a week in a technique similar to using Olive oil.
  4. Almond Oil: Rapidly penetrating the skin, Almond oil instantly revitalizes it with the goodness of Vitamin A. Use it daily in a way similar to that of using Olive and Coconut oils for a healthily glowing skin.
  5. Sandalwood Oil: Highly fragrant Sandalwood oil is a powerful moisturizer as well. To apply mix 3-4 drops of sandalwood oil in one tablespoon of almond oil and apply it twice or thrice a week, in a way similar to that of almond oil.
  6. Neem Oil: Neem oil is a potent hydrating agent with powerful antimicrobial properties. Dilute  neem oil with sweet sesame or almond oil in a 70:30 proportion and use this oil mix daily in a way similar to that of Sesame or Almond Oil.
  7. Sunflower Oil: Packed with the power of the Sun, this oil is rich in Vitamin E. The skin can be treated daily with this oil  in a fashion similar to that of Coconut Oil.
  8. Lavender Oil: With a deeply relaxing aroma, Lavender oil removes blemishes and scars along with hydrating the skin. Mix equal quantities of coconut and lavender oils and use it daily just like Almond Oil.
  9. Jojoba Oil: A highly popular skin oil, the structure of Jojoba oil resembles the sebum naturally secreted by the skin. If used daily in a manner similar to Olive oil, it restores the skin oil balance.
Argan Oil: Highly expensive and rare, Argan Oil is amongst the best ingredients banishing skin dryness. For best results use a few drops daily after washing and cleansing dry parts of the body and leaving it to be absorbed.
