New Delhi, 29 July 2020:  On Friday, 31st July 2020, Korean Cultural Centre India is going to host Delhi Regional round for 09th edition of K-Pop India Contest 2020 through its digital platforms: YouTube and Instagram.  You can stay tuned from 02:00 pm to enjoy the contest. Delhi will have 35 contestants, 17 vocalists and 18 dancers.

The contest is in its 2nd phase – regional round which is being run from 18 cities.  Apart from Delhi, Kolkata (01st Aug), Nagpur (02nd Aug), Guntur (03rd Aug), Chennai (07th Aug), Pine (08th Aug), Mumbai and Bangalore (09th Aug, Bhopal (15th Aug) and Hyderabad (16th Aug) will have their regional round where all the contestants are set to give knocking competition.  

This year only solo entries were allowed for both the categories: Vocal and Dance. 1344 participants made their mark in first round by posting their videos on KCCI website and SNSs. This was held from 15th May to 15th June 2020. More than 150,000 fans had enjoyed the contest in this phase.

Total 458 participants are competing in the second regional rounds, which began on 13th July and will end on 16th August 2020. The competitions are hosted by regional K-Pop fan club in collaboration with KCCI. All 18 cities will have 2 winners, one each in vocal and dance category. Fans can enjoy each of the contest through online platforms as most cities will have live performances.

The regional round winners will compete in the grand finale round on 12th September 2020. The 4 grand finale winners will be invited to Korea for music video shooting, cultural experience and exchange.

The 458 winners of the first rounds are from Ahmedabad, Aizawl, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Chennai, Dehradun, Delhi, Guntur, Hyderabad, Imphal, Itanagar, Kohima, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, Patna and Pune. Delhi has the biggest fan following (participants) followed by Kolkata, Chennai and Bengaluru.

Even though the 2020 Changwon World Music Festival has been cancelled and the situation owing to the Pandemic is not stable, KCCI was able to receive a great number of participants. Owing to the ongoing Pandemic, and in compliance with the guidelines provided for precaution against COVID-19, it was decided that the Regional Round will be hosted on an online platform (YouTube) not on spot as expected before. With all these limits and restrictions, nevertheless, KCCI is holding this event to encourage all Indian youngsters not to give up their passion and hope for the future.
