Vedatya Institute launches world-class Fashion and Design Programs in North India in collaboration with Istituto Marangoni

New Delhi, March 8th, 2022 - Vedatya Institute, a leader in the service industry education, and Istituto Marangoni, one of the top design schools of the world, have reached an understanding to provide world-class education across multiple design disciplines.

After active industry feedback, the newly established School of Design and Creative Arts (SDCA) at Vedatya designed it’s curriculum to address the skill set deficiency amongst the current design graduates. This feedback – impart broad-based design skills, design thinking approach, and fundamental business knowledge – forms the foundation for Vedatya’s unique program offerings in fashion design, interior design, visual communication, and design management. Vedatya is all set to launch its first ever design program in July 2022.

The collaboration with Istituto Marangoni further enhances Vedatya’s offering by providing its students an opportunity to either get a professional certificate by Istituto Marangoni in multiple design related specializations or spend a semester abroad at one of their multiple locations that includes Milano, Paris and London, the top fashion capitals of the world. Even while Vedatya is waiting for it’s cohort to start in July 2022, it is now offering a summer program by Istituto Marangoni in Europe at a discounted fee for students interested in the design and fashion fields.

This collaboration will also help Vedatya fill the skill set deficit amongst the graduates of existing programs. Design schools in India, even today, are very focused for the most part on imparting the design skill but ignore the holistic approach that includes business training and a design thinking mindset. At the Istituto Marangoni, design is taught hand in hand with business, which is key to this collaboration and important for designers of the future. As a result, Istituto Marangoni has nurtured some of the most successful Indian designers such as - Rahul Mishra, Avinta Sharma, Somil Seth, Druv Kapoor and Jeetinder Sandhu.

In order to maintain the healthy student to faculty ratio, Vedatya has limited its intake to only 30 students this year. It has a comprehensive admission criterion in which the academic record is just one component. It is critical that the applicants have a broad-based competency that includes demonstrated extra-curricular activities, general knowledge and a passion to pursue their career in design space.

“We are proud to welcome talented students from Vedatya and to establish our presence again in India thanks to a special partnership that is meant to support the new generation of Indian creatives and skilled professionals in the realms of Fashion and Design”, says Roberta Cesaro, Head of Business Development and Strategic Partnerships at Istituto Marangoni.

Speaking about this collaboration, Amit Kapur, Managing Promoter at Vedatya said, “We are very excited to collaborate with the best-in-class design school of the world. Our partnership with Istituto Marangoni will give Vedatya’s students a variety of international opportunities and the distinct advantage of world-class education. Vedatya’s School of Design and Creative Arts in collaboration with Istituto Marangoni aims to enhance academic offerings by giving students options such as study abroad programmes, exhibitions, and workshops. We also see students of both the institutes benefitting through international student exchange and joint research projects.

Owing to Vedatya’s collaboration with Istituto Marangoni, our students might also have the option to transfer to different campuses of Istituto Marangoni or complete their UG programmes at Vedatya and then seamlessly progress to postgraduate programmes at Istituto Marangoni. These articulation agreements are also being evaluated actively.”
