Origin of Bajrang Baan lyrics

It is also important to understand the origin of Bajrang Baan lyrics. Most experts believe that Bajrang Baan stotra was written by Goswami Tulsidas (also known as Tulsidas). Tulsidas was a leading 16th-17th century poet-saint, who has also written the Ramcharitmanas (his Awadhi retelling of the Ramayana) and the Hanuman Chalisa.

Tulsidas lived between approximately 1511–1623 CE. It is generally accepted that Bajrang Baan was written as an independent composition and is not a part of the Ramcharitmanas. Bajrang Baan was likely written in the 16th century in the Awadhi dialect (similar to the Chalisa). It exists as a standalone devotional text and is not integrated with any major scriptures. Due to oral transmission, variations may exist in the numerous printed versions.
